Kionix Offers Ultimate Flexibility for Handset Applications in the KXSD9 Accelerometer

Ithaca, New York – Tuesday, June 10, 2008 – Kionix, Inc., has served up ultra low power and programming flexibility as the key features of its newest accelerometer series in its smallest 3x3x0.9 mm form factor, the KXSD9. The KXSD9 offers a factory-programmable bandwidth and g range from 2g to 6g. It also provides user-selectable filter settings and g ranges by means of control registers, an exciting addition to this feature-rich sensor product.

According to Eric Eisenhut, Vice President for Sales and Marketing, the KXSD9 was developed to expand Kionix’s accelerometer product offering in support of the product needs and requirements of the mobile consumer electronics market. “The KXSD9 features full operation down to a 1.8V supply, and its power management functionality is enabled through an embedded motion wake-up algorithm,” said Eisenhut. “Access to accelerometer functionality is controlled through common digital SPI and I2C interfaces, and an auxiliary input allows applications engineers to access the internal A/D converter to assist with any additional sensor inputs that need to be converted into digital signals.”

Kionix application experience with sensor integration in mobile products is being leveraged by customers for the rapid adoption of the KXSD9 in mobile handsets, personal media players, and mobile internet devices.
