Linear Position Sensor for Dust and Gas/Vapor Hazardous Locations

Moorestown, NJ,..November 2, 2007 - Everight Precision Technologies Corporation, the North American distributor for British sensor manufacturer Positek, Ltd., offers the Positek E111 intrinsically safe, rugged linear position sensor for use in potentially explosive dust and gas/vapor atmospheres. The E111 is one of the extensive E Series of Positek linear and rotary position sensors that are ATEX approved to Ex II 1GD EEx ia IIC T4 Ex iaD 20 T135°C (Ta = -40°C to +80°C).  This designates the sensor as belonging to: Group II - suitable for all areas except mining and Category 1 GD - for use in areas with continuous, long or frequent periods of exposure to hazardous gas (Zones 2 to 0) and dust (Zone 20). Operating temperature limits of the sensors are -40 to +80°C.

With no wearing contacts, the E111 has virtual infinite life, is highly linear and repeatable, and maintains output stability over a wide temperature range. The robust E111 has a 12.7 mm target rod, recommended for applications where vibration is an issue or where there is a need for longer travel sensors. Body and target rod are stainless steel for long service life and corrosion resistance. Like all Positek sensors, the E111 is built and calibrated for the user’s measurement range from 50 to 800mm and is offered with a variety of mounting configurations and an optional shaft boot for protection against particle ingestion.  Positek E111 Series sensors must be operated with Positek BX barriers that provide either a 0.5 – 9.5 V DC or  a 4-20 mA analog output that represents absolute position immediately on power up.
