Bullet 'Beyond Europe' - New Book published by IFSA Publishing

'Beyond Europe' - is the first non-technical book, published by IFSA Publishing. It is written by Dr. Dan Mihai Ştefănescu - an IFSA Member and author of 'Handbook of Force Transducers' (published by Springer in 2011). Dr. Ştefănescu has contributed to dozens conferences in 40 countries on all continents (except Antarctica). But the 'Beyond Europe'  is not about sensors or measurements. It is a book about travels ... Travels for conferences and congresses to South Africa, Australia, Brazil, China, South Korea, Egypt, India, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zeland, Taiwan, Tunisia, United Arabian Emirates and USA.

‘Beyond Europe’ contains a text rich in information and accompanied by spectacular images, offering a natural and inedited discourse on author's business trips in exotic lands. This journey agenda and, at the same time, intimate series of reports reflects the author’s impressions in his contacts with cultural environments much different from Europe, narrated in a fresh, ingenious, original and humorous style.

In a multidisciplinary spirit, his book is full of historical, geographical, religious and economic information, presented with an unusual ability and easiness. Therefore, the reader feels like a direct participant in the world’s and life’s spectacle, as it develops at thousands of miles far from Europe.

The book will be useful for all who like to travel and travelling for business trips (congresses, conferences, symposiums, workshops, exhibitions, etc.) as well as for events organizers.

Bullet  IFSA Conferences: Calls for Papers

Although due to the travel restrictions and global COVID-19 quarantine, some main sensor related conferences in the Word where cancelled in this year, we did reschedule the IFSA annual conferences for October-November 2020. The submission deadlines (and other dates such as notification and camera ready) are open till now at the numerous requests from our authors, who still have the limited access to the academic/industrial premises where the research investigation is taking place. This is also true for the 6th International Conference on Sensors and Electronic Instrumentation Advances (SEIA' 2020), 23-25 September 2020, Porto, Portugal  So, by this way we will be able to guarantee to researchers and PhD students the necessary publications in conference proceedings, post-conference publications in related journals and chapters in appropriate book in due time. For more details about the conferences, please click to the appropriate conference's title or logo below.

Please submit your 2-page extended abstract(s) including illustrations and list of references to the following coming IFSA conference(s):

1. 6th International Conference on Sensors and Electronic Instrumentation Advances (SEIA' 2020), 23-25 September 2020, Porto, Potrigal. Deadline is open till now.
2. 2nd IFSA Frequency & Time Conference (IFTC' 2020), 23-25 September 2020, Porto, Potrigal. Deadline is open till now.
3. 3rd International Conference on Optics, Photonics and Lasers (OPAL' 2020), 21-23 May 2020, Tenerife (Canary Islands), Spain. Deadline is open till now.
4. 3rd International Conference on Microelectronic Devices and Technologies (MicDAT '2020), 21-123 October 2020, Tenerife (Canary Islands), Spain. Deadline is open till now.
5. 2nd International Conference on Advances in Signal Processing and Artificial Intelligence (ASPAI' 2020), 18-20 November 2020, Berlin, Germany. Deadline for 2-page abstracts: 30 September 2020.
6. 1st IFSA Winter Conference on Automation, Robotics & Communications for Industry 4.0 (ARCI' 2021), 3-5 February 2021, Chamonix-Mount-Blanc, France. Deadline for 2-page abstracts: 5 November 2020

Bullet  Sensors & Transducers journal: Call for Articles (no publication fee)

Taking into account the current COVID-19 restrictions, many universities in the World are not returned to the normal operation mode till now. The International Frequency Sensors Association has decided to waive the publication fee for articles, which will be submitted before 30 September 2020 to our open access Sensors & Transducers (ISSN: 2306-8515, e-ISSN 1726-5479) journal for both: standard and rapid publications. It will be our contribution to the fight against the post COVID effects in science.

Sensors & Transducers is established, international, peer-reviewed, open access journal (print and electronic). It provides the best platform for the researchers and scientist worldwide to exchange their latest findings and results in science and technology of physical, chemical sensors and biosensors. The journal publishes original results of scientific and research works related to strategic and applied studies in all aspects of sensors: reviews, regular research and application specific papers, and short notes.

In comparison with other sensors related journals, which are mainly focused on technological aspects and sensing principles, the Sensors & Transducers journal significantly contributes in areas, which are not adequately addressed in other journals, namely: frequency (period), duty-cycle, time-interval, PWM, phase-shift, pulse number output sensors and transducers; sensor systems;  digital, smart, intelligent sensors and systems designs; signal processing and ADC in sensor systems; advanced sensor fusion; sensor networks; applications, etc. By this way the journal significantly enriches the appropriate databases of knowledge. Published articles (article by article) are available for free download immediately after publication without any embargo period and registration.

Bullet New Frequency Output Sensors on the Market

Nevertheless the number of sensors with digital outputs is continuously growing on the modern market, the frequency output sensors becomes more and more important and in strong demand. Why ? Because of any digital output smart sensors can be designed by two ways:

1) Analog output sensors + Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) or

2) Frequency output sensors + Frequency-to-Digial Converter (FDC).

Namely the last approach brings a lot of benefits including high noise immunity and robastness, high metrological performance, low manufacturing cost and, the best possible level of integration (scalability) for nm processes. Such approach has the potential to become a trend-setting technology for recently and future scaled CMOS technologies for both: the monolithic approach and multi-chip approach to drastically increase the level of integration.

Here is some relatively new frequency and pulse width output sensors, available on the market:

DRV5057A - Linear Hall Effect sensor with PWM output

P1Xf -  temperature sensor with frequency output 1 Hz - 20 kHz; temperature range -50 to +200 °C; absolute error ±0.5 °C

HySense RS 500 - Rotation speed sensor. Frequency range 1 ... 10 000 Hz
