The Handbook of Thermometry and Nanothermometry presents and explains of main catchwords in the field of temperature measurements and nanomeasurements. This the first, well illustrated in full color, encyclopedia contains more than 800 articles (vocabulary entries) in thermometry and nanothermometry, and covers nearly every type of temperature measurement device and principles. At the end of book the authors provide a useful list of references for further information.
Written by experts, the book at the first place is destined for all who are not acquainted enough with specificity of temperature measurement but are interested in it and study literary sources in this realm. The authors tried to enter maximally on catchwords list the issues, which refer directly or indirectly to thermometry as well as to nanothermometry. The last one is the most modern chapter of thermometry and simultaneously of nanometrology. The Handbook of Thermometry and Nanothermometry is a 'must have' guide for both beginners and experienced practitioners who want to learn more about temperature measurements in various applications: engineers, students, researchers, physicists and chemists of all disciplines. In addition, this book will influence the next decade or more of road design in the nanothermometry.
Introduction
The purpose of this book is presentation and explanation (explication) of main catchwords in the branch of temperature measurements and nanomeasurements. At the first place it destined for engineers, lecturers, students, persons who are not acquainted enough with specificity of temperature measurement but are interested in it and study literary sources in this realm. The authors tried to enter maximally on catchwords list the issues which refer directly or indirectly to thermometry as well as to nanothermometry. The latter is the most modern chapter of thermometry and simultaneously of nanometrology. Authors presented their achievements respectively in the set of 8 works, 2012, Sensors & Transducers, Issues 5-9, common name ‘Research in Nanothermometry’, and in a similar row of articles, 2013, Sensors & Transducers, Issues 3-12 (common name ‘Development of Noise Measurements’).
The catchwords in the headers of the text are marked in bold and placed accordingly with alphabet, and the catchwords in the text are marked in italic. The catchword can consist of several words and key word is at the first place. Then the word order can be changed without context loss, for example, ‘Thermometer of Quartz’ and ‘Quartz thermometer’.
If the catchword is mentioned in the text article and is present in this Handbook, then it is in italics and begins with capital letter, for example: ‘Measurement errors of solid bodies are specified by the distortions of around the measurement point of the initial Thermal field, Thermal resistance between Sensitive element and studied body, Difference of the object thermophysical characteristics and Thermotransducer’.
At the end of some articles the physical value dimension is mentioned in SI which is included to the catchword. All marks in formulas given in the articles are explained mainly in the text of the same articles. We turn your attention that in thermometry it is accepted to mark temperature in Celsius scale t and in Kelvin scale T. Temperatures difference in both mentioned scales is recommended to express in Kelvin.
We are very grateful to our reviewers for well-wishing criticism as also Scientific-production association ‘Termoprylad’, Public Joint Stock Company, Lviv, Ukraine, for politely given photos of modern thermometry instruments and means.
